In a day and age when opportunity abounds, I'm surprised
to find many people who give up on their dreams.
I'm here to tell you, as a person who really has 'been there and done
that' that you can become anything you want to be!
Over twenty years ago at the age of 24, I was floundering. I could
barely make my rent, many times went without eating, and my career
possibilities were non-existent. When I decided to take control of
my future, I can't begin to tell you how many people said to me "Get
a good job by going to distance learning school? Yeah, right!"
I took a chance and invested, yes I said invested, in a correspondence
computer programming degree (there was no internet in the dark ages).
I have been working in the IT industry ever since, including jobs
with a global software company, a major US bank, and currently, at
a salary just shy of six figures, for the largest marketing firm in
the mid-west as a Systems Programmer.
I think the investment paid off.
I have never hidden my education roots, so I have had many the people
I work with (clerks, computer operators, admin assistances, etc.) have
come to me seeking advice in selecting a good online college. Most
in secret, like it’s a “bad” thing to want a successful
career.
I take great pride in the accomplishments of everyone of these people
that decided to take the plunge and build a successful career.
Including my brother who two years ago pursued an online degree, changed
careers at the age of forty, and today is an IT manager at one of the
largest employers in the state of Nebraska.
If you don’t personally know someone that has gone through a
distance learning program, on these pages you’ll find a sampling
of articles and information to, hopefully, answer some of your questions
about online degree programs and give you a list of solid universities
to choose from.
Your online degree choices have never been better. With number of
highly respected accredited Universities like Argosy and
Kennedy-Western offering
online degrees, and the impressive list of quality programs
from colleges like AIU and
University of Phoenix you need
only to act,
choose to succeed, and you will succeed.
More than likely you have skeptics in your world, people who tell
you that your dreams are too big. People who tell you that distance
learning won't work. People who say the Internet education is a fad
and look at you as if you just announced you were moving to Mars.
Here's my advice. Don't listen to them. Listen to your heart.
The Internet has literally kicked open the doors of Academic and Career
opportunity. I'm not talking about a little bitty crack of opening.
I'm talking WIDE open.
You can be anything you want to be. Set goals, take action, and settle
for nothing less than the excellence that lives in your heart.
